A final hoorah.

It was the last night of my 25th year, a year that had been challenging, confusing, good, and bad. It was a year of filled with a rollercoaster of emotions; excitement, dissappointment...hell, I was grad student for a week. A year like this had to end on a high note. It had to end with something huge. It had to end...with the Hoff.

That's right friends, on May 27th at Molly Malone's at approximately 9:45 PM, I experienced David Hasslehoff in all his glory...air guitar, high kicks, "oohga chucka," dressed in a leather shirt. It was AWESOME, a truly once in a lifetime experience. With his moving performanaces of Hooked on a Feeling and Get In My Car, I now know what all those German girls are talking about...he's a true performer.

I'd say where leaving your early 20's was concerned, this was most definitely the way to do it.

oh...and Bo Brady was there too.

Self-Discovery.

Tonight I learned That I can't take a guy with a faux-hawk seriously...

...I really can't.

Yet still I wait.

Ding.

I hear it, I look down...my seat belt's on, but then I see it, glowing in orange...my gaslight staring back at me from the dash of my car. It taunts me; that little light, but I'm running late for work...no time to stop..."God, I hope I don't get stuck." Sometimes I look at it as a sort of adventure...how far can I go? I think that I could be the next Kramer & Newman, and take that gaslight to the very end. It's not that I'm a thrill seeker...this may come as a surprise to you to, but it's really not that thrilling...there just never seems to be a good time to get gas.

I wish that there was a degree to the gas light, you know? What if yellow warns you that your gas it very low, or orange means that you should seriously consider stopping for gas, and red means that you better haul ass to a gas station or you're going to be walking home, biotch...at least then I'd know...at least then 3.49/gallon wouldn't continually dissuade me from stopping and risking the long walk home in 3 inch heels.

But as it stands, I heard that little ding when I left from work and I'll hear it again when I leave for work. Maybe the prices will have dropped a little in the morning.

The Golden Birthday.

To celebrate Amber's golden birthday...26 on the 26th...we headed west to The Penthouse at the Huntley Hotel in Santa Monica. The birthday girl wore yellow, her signature color, and we had drinks and appetizers at the little hotel overlooking the coast.

Happy Happy, Miss Amber!

Lia's Day of Birth.

For the first time since I met Lia, and perhaps for the second time ever in her life, on February 15th friends gathered together to celebrate her birthday at Dominick's in West Hollywood.

The food was good, the conversation was great, but the party didn't really begin until the gifts were opened:

All together it was a wonderful night, celebrating a wonderful person!

Happy Birthday, Lia!

February, a month in review.

Academy season has kept me pretty busy at work, and has led to me neglecting my blog these past few recaps. So I thought I give you a little recap of the last month.

- The month began with a lovely visit from my mum; we spent a weekend shopping, chatting, and taking in the LA scenery.

- The next week, plagued with some sort of throat infection, was nothing but work, work, work.

- Went to the Image awards on Valentine's day and heard Stevie Wonder play.

- Lia's birthday was the very next day.

- The next week was really hard with the Oscars right around the corner, but I did manage to make it to my very first opera...Othello at the Music Center downtown, and to my own disbelief...I actually like opera, who knew?

- To say that this week at work has been a challenge would be a severe understatement; so much to do so little time, but thankfully not only is tomorrow Friday, but also the end of this slightly tumultuous month. However, aside from work this week was nice...on the 26th I celebrated the 26th birthday of two of my favorite people, Maya & Amber. I spent good times with new friends, and am looking forward to tomorrow's leap day.

The time's going by so quickly lately, I can't believe that a month has past. Hopefully, another won't before I update again.

In case you didn't learn it in kindergarten...

The Wilshire courtyard would like to remind you:

What are you insinuating.

I'll never understand personalized plates...

Seriously?

Alone in a big room.

Tonight I headed to Sony to catch a screening of Brick Lane, the story of a woman from Bangladesh who is forced to leave home and get married after the death of her mother.
I'd never heard of the film so I wasn't quite sure what to expect and when I arrived at the screening and found myself alone in the theater I genuinely thought about going home, or catching the screening of The Counterfeiters in the next room.

Though there was no one to my left...

and no one to my right...

Though it was just me...

I stayed, and I couldn't be happier that I did.

The story was endearing, the film was beautifully shot, and the performances were stellar. I can absolutely say that Brick Lane has been added to the list of movies that I love...and I recommend... no, I insist that you see it. It may be a little tricky to find, but it will be well worth the search.

I Resolve.

I've done a lot of thinking about this year; about what I want and where I want to go...so here they are, a little late but still early into the year...my resolutions for 2008.

- To run more
- To run away less
- To have more fun
- To be more open
- To cook a balanced meal at least once a week
- To play more music
- To read more books
- To take more pictures
- To find more enjoyment in each day
- To stay better connected to the important people in my life
- To cut ties from the toxic people in my life
- To travel more, even if it's just outside of the city
- To hike, to swim, to dance
- To learn how to skateboard
- To write more
- To know when to hold them, and when to fold them

I guess that's it.

Christmas in Colorado.

This Christmas I spent a lot of time with family and friend. It was great to get away, and just relax in the Colorado cold.
